Originally, for Anika’s fourth birthday, I didn’t want to have a party for her anymore. We’re already going to Hongkong Disneyland on May and I have booked ourselves an out of town beach trip that weekend. Ang gastos na mga bakla. Alam niyo naman kung paano ako magpa-party. Over-acting. So I told Alvin, no party na kasi baka magkasisihan pa sa gastos after. Hehehe.
However, you know how I’m big on birthday cakes on our birthdays so I had one made for the bagets. Anika is so much in love with Disney’s Frozen so yun yung pinagawa ko kay Cat of Tazzy Cakes. And then I realized, it will be really sad naman if there are no kids to sing “Happy Birthday” for Anika eh feel na feel pa naman niya ang mga ganun. We decided tuloy to have a small party, inviting only our close relatives. If I say close relatives, sa side ko, it’s just Wowa, Toots, Noel, Faye, Fonz and LT. However, that is very different with Alvin’s side of the family. Marami sila! They’re all close to each other kahit ganun sila kadami which was perfect because this meant that Anika will have her cousins as guests =)
ALVIN: Small party lang talaga?
ME: Oo. Simpleng party lang dito sa bahay.
ALVIN: Kinakabahan ako diyan sa simple mo eh. Simple din ang sinabi mo last year nung nagpaparty ka dito sa bahay.
Masyadong kabado. Bawasan kasi ang kape.
So there gorabelles na.
Akalain niyo, Alvin got sick the night before Anika’s birthday?! As in his temperature was 39 degrees plus. I panicked! I gave Alvin medicines and told him to rest. I told him also that we’ll cancel na lang the party the next day. Hindi ko kakayanin yun mag-isa! We agreed to limit na lang the visitors to immediate family. I invited na din Janis’ daughter (she adores Anika!) and Chelsea (Anika’s bestfriend in her school). Ayan, three kids plus her cousin Gabo. Keribelles na yan.
That night, while Alvin and Anika were sleeping, I decided to decorate our living and dining area with old school streamers and balloons. Please forgive the quality of the photos. My camera’s still broken so I took all these using my iPhone.
I was so tired na after that mga muthers. I came from work kasi eh and I made asikaso pa my mag-ama. My hardwork was sulit because when Anika woke up and saw all these, she exclaimed “Wooowwww!!! This is the best birthday ever!!!!”.
Nakakatuwa din talaga.
My next surprise for Anika is this kitchenette that I ordered with my fellow SoMoms. They ordered this from Handicrafts, atbp. It’s a lot cheaper than the Ikea toy kitchen that I wanted to buy for her.
She loves it!
My third surprise supposedly is her own room. Kaso lang nagkaron ng concern with the bed so I’m postponing it muna until we get a new bed for her. Abangan niyo na lang ang bagong room in Anika soon here! =)
After breakfast, we went to her Nursery school to get her report card.
Outfit of the day:
Alvin and I were the ones surprised naman when we got Anika’s report card! Look at all those Outstanding grades!
I’m so proud of my baby girl!!!
And then when we got home from school, I was happy because our help decorated na our garage without me telling them to do so. I took out the Monde Mamon-It-Yourself Kit that they gave us so that Anika and her guests can make their own mamons!
At around 430pm, after Anika has taken her afternoon nap, she became restless.
ANIKA: Nanay! Where are my friends?! They are so late!
ANIKA: Nanay! I thought this is a party? I don’t have friends! I called Gabo and he’s still sleeping!
At around 5pm, the kids started arriving. It’s a good thing because it’s not that hot na anymore kasi late in the afternoon na. I had the Mamon-It-Yourself activity started agad agad!
The kids had fun! Promise! I could see it in their eyes! The Mamon-It-Yourself activity is unique. I bet they have not done that yet in any other kiddie parties!
And then came the cake candle blowing. Anika disappeared to change into her Elsa dress.
After the pictorial, she changed again into her other Elsa dress.
Siya na talaga! =)
She wears those gowns 24/7. I just hope that these Elsa dresses will make it until our HK Disneyland trip in May.
And of course our last surprise for Anika is her Frozen cake. She had just woken from her nap when she saw the cake. Cat, being the super darling that she is, came to our house with her family in tow just to bring Olaf. The cake will not be complete without Olaf =) Hindi matanto ang reaction ni Anika.
ANIKA (dancing around): Oh my god!!! Elsa! Anna (pronounced as Ona)! Olaf! This is the best birthday ever!!! Thank you Nanay! This is the best day of my life!!!
I wonder saan nagmana ng pagka-overacting etong batang ito.
Here’s Cat’s fabulous Frozen cake.
So pretty ano?
Cat said that she cannot count na how many Frozen cakes she did! I can just imagine! Ang daming little girls who are very much into Frozen nowadays =)
I told Anika to make a wish first before she blows her candle. She really looked adorable here. I caught her making her wish!
I asked her later that night what her wish was.
ANIKA: I wished for all of my friends to be with me all the time, Nanay. I wish they would never go home.
Awwwww… Bigyan na kasi ng kapatid yan eh!
Naging choppy bigla.
Anyways, as usual, Cat’s cake does not only looks pretty, it also is very yummy. I served this cute rainbow cake to our guests while the kids were playing in our yard.
The mini party ended with Anika opening her gifts. She kept on exclaiming, “This is my dream come true!” every time she opened her gifts. Nakakaloka ang saya niya!
Okay din pala ang mga simple parties. One, I’m not harassed. I was able to enjoy the bahala-na-what-will-happen party. Two, it’s not expensive. My MIL made spaghetti and leche flan. I had hotdogs with marshmallow made. I made crabsticks and cheese sticks with garlic and sour cream dip. There were juices for the kids and sodas for the adults. Wowa brought biko and chips with dips.
Three, I love that it’s very intimate. I get to attend to everyone lalo na to Anika.
Masarap din pala ang simpleng party lang =)
Happy 4th birthday party Anika!!!
We love you!!!
