I brought Anika to school this morning. For some strange reasons, she started crying when we arrived at the end of the corridor to her classroom. She didn’t want to let go of me. She doesn’t want me daw to leave.
You know guys, I get this kind of Anika’s emote sometimes. Back when I was also still a student, I get anxious every now and then. Yung tipong gusto mo nakadikit ka lang sa nanay mo the whole day. For a 7 year old, that feeling of separating from your parent during this kind of emote is kinda scary and lonely at the same time. This is why I never sush Anika whenever she’s like that. I let her do her drama and then I talk to her.
This morning, her friends went out of the classroom and went to where we were standing. They were convincing Anika to go with them na to the classroom. Meanwhile, I was thinking of ways how to pacify Anika.
ME: Hey Anika. Why don’t you invite your friends to Active Fun this Saturday? How about that?
Anika stopped crying.
CLASSMATE 1: Ohhh! I like that! I go to Active Fun too!
ME: Okay game. Ask your parents ha? Tell them let’s go to Active Fun this Saturday.
Anika started to smile. She started telling her classmates who to invite pa.
And then I paused for a while. Wait lang pala.
ME: Okay guys. It’s a date already? Don’t forget to ask money for Active Fun okay? We’ll see you guys around!
Baka kasi akala nila treat ko! Hahahahaha!
Anika went na with her classmates to their classroom after that. Tawa na ng tawa. Kaloka.
Pero that’s not my kwento today.
Last Saturday, we went to Anika’s pedia for a follow up check up post-pneumonia. After telling us that
SHE’S NOT MALNOURISHED she’s fine, we went to UpTown Mall to meet up with the Pastorils. Alvin was in a bad mood so I wasn’t minding him. Topak din kasi yang asawa ko. Bigla ka na lang hindi kakausapin out of nowhere. When you ask him what’s wrong, he will tell you everything’s fine.
Tapos hindi magsasalita.
Topak na tunay talaga.
Anyway, Pineda, Anika, Maeko and I spent one and a half hours at Kidzoona while Alvin wandered around. It turned out, while waiting for us, Alvin went to Bruno’s barbershop and had a head and foot massage. He was able to have a power nap so he was in a good mood by the time we all met up for coffee at Paper Moon Cafe.
We went home around 5pm to attend the 60th birthday celebration of one of Alvin’s aunts.
Tin messaged me to ask me what time we were going to the party. I said we were just on our way home. I asked what time the party was and she said 5pm.
Fuzz. We were still in BGC that time.
We rushed home. We got ready for the party in just 5 minutes. We arrived at the party around 7pm. They have already started the program.
Here’s what I wore:
I was racking my brains on our way home. I couldn’t think of anything to wear. Remember, I have not shopped for a long time. Good thing paghagod ko ng clothes ko, lumabas ang dress na ito. Serendipity! I forgot already that I have this dress! You should always have a little black dress in your closet. You will never know talaga when you will need them.
I love this photo of us taken after the party. That’s me with Alvin, my MIL, Paul (Alvin’s brother) and Tin (Paul’s wife).
I’ve never told you what my in-laws do, ano?
Ka Lydia (my MIL) is a retired microbiologist. She worked for a very long time at the Research of Institute for Tropical Medicine. Dito dinadala yung mga tao na nakakagat ng aso. This is also the research facility where they study about the N1H1 and other scary infection diseases. If you try googling her, you will see all the infectious disease researches that she authored. She’s pretty big time in her field. Paul naman, before he started with his new job, was with CARE, a humanitarian aid company. He goes to different provinces around the country to help give aid to the poor. His wife, Tin (my bilas), is an Internal Medicine doctor. She’s currently studying (again) for her specialization.
Kami naman ni Alvin, eto, mga hamak na empleyado lang. Lolz. But seriously, I wish I had a profession like my in-laws. Yung mga tipong saving the people from dying levels. That would be very exciting, wouldn’t it?
After the party, we had a double date at Nobu Hotel. We watched the bands at the center of the casino.
Boy, I had one of the most relaxing time of my life. I cannot even remember when was the last time I made myself up and went out like this. Nakaka-miss din pala.
We went home around 12 midnight. Actually, 9pm pa lang antok na ako eh. Tita na tita lang ang peg. I was just having so much fun with these three kaya I lasted until midnight =)
Osha, it’s almost 8pm already and I’m sleepy na. This is what ageing looks like.
