Anika’s birthday started with her waking up at 530am dahil sa sobrang excitement.
She went out because she is expecting birthday decors for her. Kanino pa naman talaga magmamana ng pagka-assuming etong batang ito kung hindi sa akin.
The birthday party decors that I got from Divisoria was a failure.
Apparently, they do not know how to spell Happy.
But Anika said that it was perfectly fine.
I left the house at 1030 am to pick up the cake at Megamall. Yun na ang start ng surprise party portion of the day.
Here is the invite that I sent out.
Pineda made that. She didn’t like the one that I made. Ano ba daw ako? Hahaha! I seriously do not have a talent for that. So she made a prettier Shopkins invitation.
I learned that some of the parents of the kids we invited deliberately did not tell their daughters and sons about the surprise party until on the day. Baka kasi magkwento kay Anika. I really appreciated that =)
Before I left the house, Anika was asking questions and nagdadrama ng slight. She was sitting on the floor by my feet while I was doing my face.
ANIKA: Nanay, why are you going out without me on my birthday?
ME: Di ba I told you I have to do some errands and then I’ll pick up your cake? You’re meeting me naman for merienda so we’ll see each other later?
ANIKA: Why are you wearing a nice dress?
ME: I like this dress.
ANIKA: Why are you putting on special make up?
ME: Because I’m a grown up.
ANIKA: Why did Ate blow dry your hair?
ME: Maarte kasi ako anak.
ANIKA: Why can’t I go with you?
ME: So you can spend time with Tatay.
ANIKA: Can I wear a nice dress also later for merienda?
ME: Yes, of course. Wear the dress that Lola gave you.
ANIKA: Can I wear my glittery shoes with heels?
ANIKA: Can I wear make up? It’s my birthday naman eh…
ME: Sige anak. Wear make up later.
ANIKA (shouting): TATAY!!!! Nanay said I can wear make up later, okayyy?
Ayun. Sumaya na siya. She let me leave the house kasi she can wear make up.
We told Anika that we will be going to Kidzania that afternoon. They will meet me for merienda in a restaurant first so that I can show her the birthday cake. I asked her that dapat naka-blind fold siya para surprise yung cake.
I was super happy that most of the guests arrived at 3:30 pm. Anika was supposed to arrive at 4pm. When Alvin called that they were already in the parking, I asked the kids to stay in front and then for all of them to keep quiet. I told them that Alvin will carry Anika inside the party room and bring her to the front. I will then remove her blindfold then everyone will shout, Happy Birthday.
Michelle Pineda captured the entire thing perfectly.
They went in the quiet party room.
When I removed her blindfold, she was stunned. As in, na-disorient siya talaga when she saw all the people, the decors, the cake and her friends.
A few seconds later, she asked to be carried. Umiyak ng bonggang bongga.
Na-overwhelm ang bagets! Hindi niya siguro ma-process yung feelings niya of happiness and awe. I was asking her why was she crying. At first she said she doesn’t know daw. And then she said she was very happy. Hahahaha!
A lot of the guests cried too.
I was crying too.
Wowa said sumakit daw batok niya kaka-pigil sa tears. To think daw, she’s a person who doesn’t cry.
After a few moments, she was able to compose herself. Ayun. Happy happy na.
This is her bff in school with her classmates and friends.
This is my big tummy este Maeko hugging Anika too. Anika was checking out the beautiful butterfly face paint of Maeko.
My dress was from SM Department Store. Ganda ano? Php 999 lang yan. Anika’s dress was from Peppermint. It was given to her by her Lola Lydia to be worn on her birthday. LT made a petticoat for her. Alvin’soutfit was normal. He showcased his Doc Martens boots na high school pa kami pinapangarap na niyang makabili =)
Anika’s second outfit was a dress I got from Cotton On in Los Angeles. This was what she wore also in her Hard Rock pictorial.
I had Constance Event Styling do the party backdrop. The colors were perfect for the Shopkins theme.
I asked Balloonie Roonie to decorate the place with balloons. They did the ceiling balloons, two pillars, guest table centerpieces and cake balloon decor for only Php 4,000. I shall post more photos after our Legoland trip so you can see how pretty the place looked.
Anika’s guest book was from Fire Tree Designs. I highly recommend them!
You know, I highly recommend having a photo album or a guest book like this during your kids 7th birthday. Ang lakas maka-senti kasi. LT and Pineda cried while going through the guest book. Kita yung photos since Anika was young until present. If you are going to have one done, get it from Fire Tree Designs. Nina (the owner) is very easy to talk to. I just sent her the photos via Dropbox and then she sent me a draft of the album for my comments and approval.
Like I said in my IG post, I will also have our Canada and my USA trip photo book album made by them.
We also gave out personalized hand sanitizers to the kiddie guests. These are from Elements Collection.
Super cute ng mga sanitizers. And hindi tinipid yung labels! So bongga!
I also ordered cookies from Maggie of The Little Whisk Ph.
The first time I personally met Maggie was years ago during the first Mommy Fleur Day. She was one of my blog readers turned friends. She was then a working mom in the corporate world. Now, she resigned and has this successful cookie business. I am really proud of her!
For Anika’s cake, as usual, I ordered it from Tazzy Cakes Ph.
Because I am very maselan with cakes and I think they are the focal point of the whole birthday celebration, dito na ako sa trusted ko all these years. Cat of Tazzy Cakes has been making Anika’s birthday cakes since she was 4 years old. And I think she did a great job again on her Shopkins cake.
Anika’s crown headpiece naman is from Em of M+ K = a. Em also is a blog reader turned friend. Ang galing din niya gumawa ng mga headpieces for kids!
Anika and her friends had fun at the surprise birthday party. Though, na-stress ako ng slight with Shakey’s at the start (tumulong na talaga kami sa pag-ayos nung room because kulang tao nila, as in nagbubuhat ako ng tables and chairs in my high wedges), the party turned out okay.
Thank you so much for everybody who came and supported us in surprising Anika. It means so much sa aming mag-asawa. Thank you to Wowa, Toots, LT, Faye and Fonz. Thank you to Mama Lydia, Papa Pito, Paul and Tin. Thank you to our relatives. Thank you to all of our friends who took time to come and be with us that day. Thank you especially to those na talagang sa malayo pa nanggaling at dumayo ng Sucat. Napaka-traffic sa Sucat, I know, kaya super duper thank you.
Thank you to Michelle Pineda. Kabog ka talaga mare. Wala kang katulad. Thank you for all the photos. I can’t wait to see the other photos that you took.
If you want to book The Michelle Pineda Photography, you can leave a message in her Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/michellepinedaphotography/
Thank you again guys!!!
ME: Anika, from one to 10, how surprised were you?
ANIKA: Oh my God, Nanay! One hundred!
ME: From one to 10, how happy are you now?
ANIKA: Trillion! Definitely trillion!
Sulit ang overbudget ko teh. Hahahaha!
