I should be doing Anika’s Araling Panlipunan mock exams but nakakatamad. Their exams aren’t until next week so for the meantime, I’d like to show you some things I discovered particularly pagdating sa make up.
I have here expensive and cheaper alternatives for your face powder, kilay and lipstick. Anika and I made an IG live video about this but it got erased na after a day. I am blogging about it now para may reference tayo forever. Hahaha!
Here they are.
I used to use the MAC Studio Face Powder ni N40. It costs around Php 1,800? I like this face powder because maganda talaga ang finish niya after applying. Coverage is good. Feel mo bakit siya expensive. The thing lang is that the surface of the powder hardens. Siguro because nalalagyan siya ng oil from my face whenever I use the sponge. Best to use a kabuki brush instead. It doesn’t stay that long (because maybe nagsa-site siguro ako) so re-application is still needed pero around in the afternoon na if you applied it in the morning.
And then I discovered the L’Oreal Infallible Pro-Matte face powder. It costs Php 600. It can replace my Mac Studio Fix powder as a daily face powder given that it’s a lot cheaper. Pang malakasan na lang si Mac if may event or an important meeting. But if I’ll just be in the office ng wala lang or will just go to the project sites, pwede na ito. Coverage is also good but I disagree with the 16 hour coverage. I still need to re-apply every few hours.
EYEBROW MAKE UP
This is very important. Hehehe. Although I still swear by the K-Palette tattoo eyebrow make-up, I tried other products to see what is out there in the market.
I’ve seen a lot of my friends use the Benefit Ka-Brow Eyebrow Cream Gel so I tried it. This costs around Php 1,600. It was tricky using it at first. May technique kang need gawin na mahirap i-explain. You should have just enough eyebrow cream gel on the brush and tamang tama lang dapat ang pressure ng pagkapahid mo sa kilay otherwise either super kapal siya (Hello, Snooky Serna) or super light naman ang malalagay mo. When I got the hang of it, patok, mga bakla. What do they call it nga? Oh yeah, Instagram eyebrows! I loved it so much that I stopped using the K-Palette muna and used this every day. At the start it might take you 15 to 20 minutes to apply it the right way because hindi siya ganun ka-dali gamitin but after using it frequently, nagagawa ko na yung kilay ko ng pantay with the right shade under 10 minutes. It stays the whole day too wag lang ako mag-site and magkuskos ng kilay sa inis sa work. That happens often. Lelz.
Ang ayaw ko lang is (1) tumitigas yung brush after a while and bumubulwak. Bumubulwak is what happens with the bristles of your toothbrush that signals you that you have to change them na. Bulwak. And (2) the gel dries out before you consume all of it so medyo sayang eh mahalia pa naman siya.
And then I discovered the L’Oreal Brow Artist Pomade! It costs only Php 500! It’s almost the same as the Benefit Ka-Brow! Ang difference lang is it doesn’t have that much variety sa color. Yung Benefit kasi madami, itong L’Oreal, parang 3 colors lang yata. It applies easily too. I didn’t have a hard time applying it anymore because nasanay na ako ng wagas dun sa Benefit. It’s the best dupe talaga for the Benefit Ka-Brow. It doesn’t dry up unlike the Benefit Ka-Brow and the brush is softer so hindi siya bumubulwak. It doesn’t last as long pero keribelles na magretouch ng konti in the afternoon.
I used to have only two shades for my everyday office look: MAC Twig and MAC Taupe. They each cost around Php 1,000. Hindi na ako nagtry ng ibang shade because expensive siya and nanghihinayang ako if I will not like the shade that I will get. That’s why I stuck with these two shades which is perfect for my every day use.
And then I discovered Maybelline and Revlon lipsticks. The Maybelline lipstick sells for only Php 300. Minsan if it’s on sale, you can get it for Php 250 or even Php 150 each. The Revlon lipstick sells for only Php 500 naman.
You guessed it right. When I knew that ang mura lang pala ng Maybelline, eh di kung ano anong shades ang pinagbibili ko. I fell in love with the Touch of Spice shade that Janis recommended. It’s very much similar to the MAC Taupe or Twig. I learned naman about the Revlon lipstick when my SIL and BIL gave me the Revlon Teak Rose for Christmas. The shade is so nice. Hindi siya ganun ka boring like the MAC Taupe or Twig but hindi naman siya out of this world na red na nakaka-ngiwi if you use it in the office. The shade is perfect for me.
Parang maganda itong Save or Splurge post na ganito ano? I hope I can make more blog posts like this. Stay tuned!
