I’m such a sucker for these kinds of lists. Grabbed this from GRACIE:
[Each player of this game starts with 6 weird things about themselves. People who get tagged need to write a blog of their own 6 weird things as well and state the rule clearly. In the end, you need to choose 6 people to be tagged and list their names. Don’t forget to leave a comment that says you are tagged in their comments and tell them to read your blog]
- i eat my desserts together with my main dish. not only because i love sweets but i just like eating and tasting everything at the same time. psychologically, they have explanation about people who do this. it has something to do with me wanting to do everything all at once or me being impatient or not being contented about everything. something like that ;p
- i am obsessive compulsive when it comes to Anika. i am the one who fixes her beddings every night. i make pagpag our bed so many times because i’m so afraid bed bugs would bite her. i fix her clothes drawer almost daily. when she coughs, natataranta ako. i’m so afraid of SIDS and it’s driving me crazy. i can’t wait for the time when Anika reaches that certain age na hindi na siya affected ng SIDS. and diba nga, i call Girlie twenty thousand times a day?! =)
- at first impression, i may look mataray, antipatika, maarte and superficial to you, but once you get to know me (lalo na if we play volleyball together), i’m sure you’ll love me. this happens everytime. i’m used to it already and and don’t get offended na anymore.
- i am extremely protective of my loved ones (family, bestfriends and office staff). my high school friends can attest to this. even at a young age, i was branded a warfreak because i fight those who fight my friends. pinagtatanggol ko sila. you can never say anything bad about them or my family because i’ll box you. joke. but seriously, especially if you’re my friend, i’ll defend you to death. parang mother instincts. but you know, even before i had anika, i’m motherly na. di lang halata.
- i secretly wish i can raid my friend Divine and her sister’s closet. korek! their outfits are so fabulous and it’s more realistic to raid their closet that that of nicole richie’s or jessica alba’s diba?
- i like brushing my teeth. i can’t sleep if i don’t brush my teeth. i can’t start working in the morning if i don’t re-brush my teeth when i get to the office. i brush my teeth when i’m sleepy but should not sleep. i brush my teeth when i’m stressed. strangely, brushing my pearly whites gives me a peace of mind (and sparkling white teeth!)
I am absolutely in love with Dwell Studio Stuff. Their designs are to die for! They offer items for babies, kids and stuff for your home.
Sadly though, I only see them being offered in Rustan’s Department Store in Makati and they are a bit pricey. Magaganda ang products eh, kaya mataray din ang price!
Anyways, I was
window shopping drooling at their website last night which resulted to another wishlist of mine. Here they are:
And when Anika gets bigger na, she can get a room like this!
Love love love!!!
I’m supposed to be writing blog entries now while Alvin’s out playing basketball with his friends. It’s our pact so that when he’s here already, we should be spending time with each other and doing things together. That’s part of our “preserving-the-romance-in-our-marriage” strategy.
Anyhow, instead of writing blogs (I actually already wrote down the topics I’d like to share with you), I started window internet shopping. I
need want to buy so many things for Anika especially that next month, we’ll start training her to eat solid food. Feeding spoons, cute big bibs, plates, food storage plus some organic chemical free mosquito repellants are all on my list. I was supposed to submit my order form already when I remembered, WE LOST OUR BPI DEBIT CARD LAST NIGHT! I dunno where.
Oh yes. Supposedly, that account is where we stock our savings. However, I mistakenly told Alvin to deposit the cash on hand we have there last Monday. And then last night, during dinner with my volleyball teammates, Alvin discovered that the card wasn’t inside his wallet. I’m not pointing fingers here but IT’S REALLY ALVIN’S FAULT! Seriously. He misplaced it. He MISPLACED the card where we store our savings! I swear, I started palpitating when he told me! I immediately called the bank’s hot line and had the card blocked. Thank God the last transaction was the deposit and no one tried using it!
So back to my dilema, we can only claim the new card by next week so we are relying on this other bank account of our with a teeny weeny amount in it until I get the new card and widraw the money Alvin deposited last Monday. So until that time, I have to budget everything within that teeny weeny amount and it’s not easy because it’s bills paying time in the Sombrero household! Sheeeesh!!!
Alvin and I will be celebrating our first year anniversary this September. Since I’m still new at work and couldn’t afford to take a leave, we decided to go somewhere local for a weekend only. Good thing, our anniversary falls on a Sunday so we can take a flight early Saturday then return home late Sunday. Alvin’s mom could just sleep over at our house that Saturday because I swear, I wont be able to enjoy the trip ‘coz I’ll be forever worrying about Anika not having a trusted grown up with her.
So, we took advantage of the low fares of Cebu Pacific. There wasn’t much choice so I booked us a flight to Iloilo.
I know!! Why there?! The choices were Naga (which had a return flight of 4am Sunday), Coron (it’s stupid to spend only overnight there. The place is too beautiful for a short stay), Bacolod (Alvin doesn’t like) and Virac (I don’t like). And so we booked it already. I have no idea what we’ll gonna do there but definitely I will book us in the nicest hotel. I was planning to make tipid but we thought Iloilo na nga lang eh then overnight pa, might as well stay in a super nice place kasi anniversary naman namin eh. We deserve it.
So maybe next week, i’ll start planning our itinerary for that weekend.
I’m so excited! Neome, my volleyball teammate, told me that it will never be the same again with me and Alvin after Anika arrives and she’s so right! It’s all about Anika nowadays and it’s already affecting our relationship. Alvin & I can feel it na so we REALLY need this vacation. Just the two of us =)
Ofcourse, I will be posting the pictures right after the trip! Wait for it! Soon! =)
My day didn’t start well today. I got pissed again with our maid. Not Girlie ha (she’s a Godsend).
We got kasi a house helper who will do the household chores so that Girlie can focus on Anika. Here’s what the maid does every day:
5:00am – Wakes up, clean house then cook breakfast
6:00am – Starts washing clothes then maybe washes the dishes we used for breakfast and other chores
9:00am – Helps Girlie bathe Anika then fixes & keeps the things they used for the bath
10:00am to 4:30pm – Will join Girlie in our airconditioned room (because Anika’s there) and watches KC, Showtime, Wowowee and Impostor (she’d probably nap there too)
4:30pm – Will make walis walis outside while making chikka with Ate Babes (the maid of the house in front of ours)
6:00pm – will cook dinner
See? She does nothing from 10am to 430pm! That is more than 6 hours diba? But this morning, I was looking for the pants that I wanted to wear at work, I found out that it wasn’t ironed yet. We went like this:
Me: Elvie, pantsa day mo kahapon diba?
Grrrrrr… Nakakainis and to tell you, this is not the first incident that she’s like that. She lies all the freaking time and all she does is to text and talk on her phone. And when you make utos something or make pansin something that she did, she’ll make simangot pa. It’s so irritating! Girlie said she’s like that because she’s spoiled daw sa probinsya nila. May ganun?! Only girl daw kasi siya sa mga magkakapatid and bunso pa. E di she shouldn’t have applied to be a maid. Donya pala siya eh! Grabe. So. Irritating. I Swear!
I am seriously considering sending her over to Wowa’s house para ma-train. Mama’s really good in training how a maid works. She’s mabait to them materially pero when it comes to work, iiyakan mo talaga siya. She doesn’t settle for tama lang. Dapat maayos yung gawa talaga. I didn’t get that from her. Masyado kasi ako maawain and I get guilty easily. I remember when we were still living in her house in Singalong, I would come inside her room and be amazed how clean it is (she’s allergic to dust). As in literally, you can lick the floor sa sobrang linis. And take note, wala pang one week samin yung maid namin nun ha?
Hay! It’s so hard to find good househelp nowadays. Mas madali pa ata makasali dun sa Hep Hep Horray ng Wowowee kasya makahanap ng maayos na maid.
i should’ve gotten this ages ago!

Anika will be turning four months this August. Her pediatrician said that by that time, we will be introducing solid food to her diet. Meaning, we will have her taste real food na so that she can eat it pagtype na niya, mga six months siguro. I’m so excited because this means, parang grown up na si Anika ko =)
Coincidentally, I came across this article about What Not To Feed Your Baby (from ModernMom.com) and I’d like to share it to you young mommies out there.
We should NOT feed our babies the following:
**thanks so much to one of my reader who noted the typographical error in the above sentence. I wish I know her name so that I can super thank her! =) I type kasi so fast di ko na napapansin! Sorry guys!
Some Other Foods to Avoid
So, What CAN I Feed my Baby?
I’m so puyat but i can’t stop reading Patty Laurel’s Blog. It’s so refreshing kasi eh.
But its getting late na I really have to turn in na, otherwise, I’d be really sleepy at work tomorrow. I’m one of those people who gets grouchy if deprived of the 8 hour sleep. (Imagine how grouchy I was after I gave birth to Anika?! Barely having 3 hours of sleep everyday for 4 weeks!)
Before I bid goodnight to you guys, I wanna share this pic of my mag-ama:
Super kyooot noh?! This was taken at Alvin’s mom’s house. They were taking a nap after we had lunch. Ofcourse, I wanted to sleep too but somebody has to watch over Anika. I’m not complaining though. Seeing them like this, napapawi ang antok and pagod ko.
Motherhood at its best! =)
